Samsung Chairman Caught up in Videotaped Prostitution Scandal
동영상 성매매 추문에 휩싸인 삼성 회장

Korean media outlet, News Tapa, has released videos which it alleges involves illegal sex with prostitutes at residences around Seoul from 2011-2013.
한국 언론 뉴스타파는 2011년-2013년 사이 서울 근교 자택에서 벌어진 것으로 주장되는 불법 성매매가 담긴 영상을 폭로했다.

The South Korean media is abuzz as the legendary chairman of Samsung is caught up in an alleged prostitution scandal following the release of a secretly recorded series of videos from 2011 through 2013.
삼성의 전설적인 회장이 2011년에서 2013년 사이 비밀리에 녹화된 일련의 영상 폭로와 함께 성매매 의혹에 휩싸이면서 한국 언론이 떠들썩하다.

According to the story broke by News Tapa, the videos are purportedly from five separate occasions between December 2011 and June 2013 where Lee Kun-hee appears with women at his Samseong-dong mansion as well as other locations in Seoul.
뉴스타파 특종에 따르면 이 동영상들은 2011년 12월로부터 2013년 6월 사이에 촬영된 5개의 개별적 영상들로 구성되어 있다고 하며, 이들 동영상에 이건희 삼성 회장이 삼성동 저택과 서울에 위치한 몇몇 다른 장소에서 여성들과 함께 모습을 나타낸다.

News Tapa said that two individuals, together with one of the unidentified women appearing in the videos, were responsible for the recordings, taken without his consent.
뉴스타파는 두 사람이 영상 속의 신원을 알 수 없는 여성들 중 한 명과 함께 이건희 회장의 동의 없이 촬영했다고 말했다.

The two women planned to use the videos to blackmail Lee. Samsung said it received the threats but did not respond.
두 명의 여성은 동영상을 이용해 삼성 이 회장을 협박하려는 계획을 가지고 있었다. 삼성은 협박을 받았지만 대응하지 않았다고 말했다.

“We apologize for causing the stir involving Chairman Lee Kun-hee,” Samsung said. “However, the issue is a personal matter of Chairman Lee, so on behalf of the group we have nothing to say.”
삼성은 “이건희 회장과 관련해 물의가 빚어진 데 대해 사과드린다”며 “그러나 그 문제는 이 회장의 사생활에 관한 것이어서 회사로서는 드릴 말씀이 전혀 없다”고 말했다.

The report says the women were paid 5 Million Korean won ($4,400) each for their services during visits to Lee’s residences –which News Tapa says were sex related.
뉴스타파는 이 여성들이 이건희 회장의 거처를 방문 제공한 서비스 -뉴스타파에 따르면 성관계와 관련된-에 대해 한 사람당 5백만 원(4천4백 달러)을 지급 받았다고 보도한다.

The Korea Herald reports that Samsung also used the names of high-profile employees to aid in the illicit activities –prostitution is officially illegal in South Korea.
코리아 헤럴드는 삼성이 이 불법적 – 한국에서는 성매매가 공식적으로 불법이다 – 행위를 돕기 위해 고위직 직원들의 이름을 사용하기도 했다고 보도한다.

The Samsung Group today issued a formal statement saying it has nothing to comment on and that “it is a personal matter.” It also added that it was “regretful” that such personal issues have caused a stir.
오늘 삼성그룹은 이에 대해 할 말이 전혀 없고 “이는 사생활에 관한 문제”라고 공식적인 논평을 발표했다. 또한 삼성은 이 문제로 물의를 일으켜 “송구하다”고 덧붙였다.

According to media reports, two of the women involoved, identified only by their surnames, Sun and Lee, were previously jailed for using illegal drugs in 2014.
언론 보도에 따르면 관련된 여성들 중 선 씨와 이 씨라는 성으로만 알려진 두 여성은 2014년 불법 마약 사용으로 투옥된 과거 경력이 있다.
